Goals in Blogging

(my objectives in writing a portfolio)
A blog is a type of online diary where one is able to express his/her ideas and to communicate with others on the Internet. Some people blog to comment on videos they see on the Internet or to simply say what they feel.

When I created this blog, all I could ask myself is “what am I doing” and “what am I getting myself into”. I’m not the type of person who would write a blog because I’m not fond of writing. But then I figured that with this blog, I am able to express what I feel about certain issues in the country or in family or etc. Though blogging can be hard in a sense that the blogger cannot be biased about certain things and should know what perspective to use. Writing a blog about a certain issue in a country or an issue in general can be hard for me because I might end up looking like someone foolish and talking non sense.

Though starting a blog is not that hard after all. After writing my very first entry, clicking on the “publish” button made me feel so relieved that I was actually able to finish an entry and was actually satisfied with it. Writing a blog would benefit me in such a way that I am able to express what I feel about a certain topic and would know what the readers think of my work. The interesting part in making a blog is the different themes that would make the blog colorful and something interesting to read.

With these interesting ideas on writing a blog, I set my mind to making one and try to make some sense into it. Try to be bold and straight to the point on what I desire to tell the audience. 

A Roller Coaster Ride

(the learning objectives I had in my english class)

Being a freshman in an excellent university has affected me in so many ways. There are times where I get pressured by my parents to maintain being part of the Dean’s List, but mainly pressured by myself. The are different kinds of subjects now that I’m in college, even though some of the lessons have already been taught in high school. I’m not a fan of English subjects so when I saw that I had to take up a certain class called Englcom, I wasn’t ecstatic about it.

I remember the first day of English class when our professor immediately told us to bring out yellow paper and start on an essay. Shocked and confused, I looked at my friend and said “is this serious?” I never thought college writing would be like this because back in high school, English class meant quizzes and lectures. English class in college meant nothing like that at all. It felt like I used up about 50 pages of bond paper, printing drafts just to get the right essays.

Even though college writing is way more stressful than high school writing, I can say that I’m thankful to come from an exclusive school back in high school where they taught us how to write essays the right way. College writing may be more serious and formal but I know that this can help me in future as I look for job opportunities. 

What is writing?

We all have our opinions on what writing is all about. Some may see it as an advantage to their life and some may see it the other way around. Some people may like it as a way to express their emotions but others would talk about it rather than having a pen and paper or a computer. I, personally, do not like writing. I am the type of person who would rather talk about it than have a diary or a blog to talk about my feelings. But sometimes, it may be good to rather write it down to keep things more private.

Come to think of it, writing is actually important. Some may not see it but I see the importance. It is a way to help ourselves express our emotion through words. Some of us may even have blogs that are private or diaries where no one can see them because maybe the words are too harsh or maybe because the story is just too personal that the writer would rather write it down than talk about it to his/her peers. Another reason why writing is important because it may be another form of communication. There are circumstances where our loved ones are on the other side of the Earth. There are only two ways to communicate: one is thru the internet and the second one is thru writing. Internet can always be a problem due to the connection from one country to the other. Writing on the other hand will only be a problem because of the delay of sending of letters to each other especially if the two people are far away from each other. But we can see that writing is important because we are able to communicate with our loved ones on the other side of the Earth.

There are many more pros of writing but the most important for me was the form of communication and a way to express what we feel. Even though I am not the type of person who likes to write, maybe because it's of my grammar, I still find a way to finish something that I have started on. And I still find a way to learn to love writing. 

Overpopulation in the Philippines

In each country, there are tons of social issues. Over in the Philippines, social issues keep on coming. Recently, there has been an issue on plagiarism, RH Bill, disrespect on police officers and a lot more. But the issue that stood out is overpopulation in the country. For Philippines is not only overpopulated mainly by Filipinos but also of different nationalities. Maybe the cause of overpopulation is because of the Koreans, Chinese, Americans and the Middle East. But yet again, it is not assured because they might be staying in the Philippines for only about a month or a year. 

There are a lot of reasons as to why the Philippines is overpopulated. One reason, or I was able to think of, is Pre-Marital Sex. We learn from the Bible that sex before marriage is a sin and yet a lot of people do it. Some happens accidentally but some do it on purpose. Another cause of overpopulation is unprotected sex. Maybe one of the reasons as to why people do it is mainly just because of pleasure. Come to think of it, I ask myself 'why do they do it when they know that it could actually lead to something bad?' This is a cause of overpopulation because the child born was just mainly an accident. These couples did not want to have a child in the first place and that one child is a big contribution to the country's population. Another main cause that hit me the most is those families on the poverty level still manage to get a child when they already have fiver or even more to take care of. They keep on making children when they know themselves that they are only limited to a number.

This issue does not only happen in the Philippines but also in other countries. Overpopulation is not good because this pulls down the economy of the country in a way that imagine spending for a big family when you can actually gain a lot for yourself. Not to sound selfish but if a person wants a family, do it out of love and not mainly for pleasure because it affects the whole country.
